This is a VERY FINE condition example of a dual cavity brass English bullet mold that appears to be for Tranter pattern bullets. The mold casts a pair of round-nosed conical projectiles with the Tranter style deep grease groove just above the flat base. The widest point of the bullet mold cavity, just above the grease groove, measures .448”, with the base below the grease groove measures .444”, with the groove measuring .31”. The cavity casts a bullet that is nominally .54” in overall length. The mold itself is 7 ¾” in overall length, including the spure cutter. It measures 6 3/8” in length, not counting the spure cutter extension. The mold is unmarked, except for the number 54 stamped into the top of the blued spure cutter, indicating 54-Bore or nominally .443 caliber.

The mold is in VERY FINE condition with wonderfully crisp and bright cavities. The brass has a rich butterscotch patina that is unmolested and very attractive. The blued sprue cutter retains about 60%+ of its original bright blue finish, with most of the loss due to flaking. The exposed metal of the sprue cutter has developed a moderately oxidized brown patina with some pinpricking and scattered surface roughness. The mold functions smoothly and both halves align perfectly. The original steel locating pin is in place and keeps the cavities perfectly aligned.

Overall all this is a wonderfully crisp and fine condition example of an English Tranter style bullet mold that would be a great addition to the display of your 54-Bore Tranter revolver, or to replace a missing mold in a cased set. It would also be a fine addition to a collection of bullet molds and remains in really fantastic, untouched and original condition.
