This is a very nice example of the L-shaped combination screwdriver for the Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Revolver, sometimes known as the “Peacemaker” or in the Colt Factory as the “Model P”. This same tool was also used with the double action Model 1878 Frontier Revolver. The screwdriver is in FINE condition. It is crisp and sharp throughout, with screwdriver blades that are free of dings or damage. The tool retains about 40% of its original, brilliant Colt fire blued finish, and is very attractive. The majority of the finish loss is due to flaking and along the contact points and sharp edges. The areas where the brilliant surface blue has flaked or worn have a mostly dull blue-black appearance that makes the tool appear to retain nearly complete finish coverage. The tool is free of any pitting and shows only some scattered lightly oxidized freckling on the surface. The tool is 3.16" tall, with a 1.05" long L-shaped screwdriver head. The larger of the two beveled screwdriver blades is .295" wide and is .053" thick. The smaller blade is .182" wide and is .0355" thick. Overall, this is a really crisp and high condition example of the combination tool for use with the most famous handgun of the American west, and one of the most famous handguns in all of history. This is one of the few Single Action Army accessories that is affordable, even in wonderful condition. It will be a great addition to the display of your revolver, or as an addition to your gun tool collection.
